Jeff Epping is the director of horticulture at Olbrich Botanical Gardens. For over 25 years Jeff has enjoyed sharing ideas about stylish, attractive gardens that require less maintenance than traditional gardens and put plants at the forefront. Jeff’s commitment to sustainable gardening is reflected in Olbrich’s award-winning garden designs that showcase the best plants for south-central Wisconsin.
Dan Schuknecht is the horticulturist in Olbrich's Thai garden. In this portion of the lecture we will explore the intermittent jungle. The Thai Sala at Olbrich Gardens is immediately surrounded by boisterous tropical plantings, but Dan will expand on the tree-covered jungle part of the garden. Learn how woodland plantings, including many native species, can provide dense and tropical feeling in a climate where plants are dormant for half the year.
Avery Pronschinske is the horticulturist in Olvrich's meadows. Follow the meadows of Olbrich through the seasons, watching them grow, transform and inspire from spring to fall. Each season brings to attention different native and seasonal blooming plants that provide the buffet of options for both wildlife and pollinators. Watch the transformation of a years-worth of growth flash by in beautifully captured images.
