Using stitches employed in Indian kantha and Japanese Boro stitching, we will completely refurbish a garment giving it a fresh, new look while meditating our way through stitches. This practice embraces a slow-making process, the love for gently worn, and repurposed materials. Ideal garments would be a nicely worn pair of jeans or jean jacket, a linen jacket, or vest. All levels are welcome.
Materials required for class:
- Fabric scraps (only weaves, light-weight. Some translucent, some lace)
- Regular sewing thread
- Sashiko thread or pearl cotton (any color)
- Sewing needles
- Pins
- Fabric marker
- A garment to work on (no outerwear)
